Experience the enchantment of Kryal Castle in Ballarat, Victoria, on a day filled with excitement and festivities. The organisers are working tirelessly to establish Oktoberfest as a recurring event, aiming to bring a touch of Bavarian culture to this charming Australian city.

Ballarat, located 115 km west of Melbourne, is a picturesque destination easily accessible via the well-connected Western Freeway. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this unique celebration, where you can indulge in traditional food, music, and entertainment, all set against the backdrop of the stunning Kryal Castle.

The Oktoberfest was Twelve noon to 10pm on the inside Castle grounds. Open air venue on a Saturday afternoon. The weather was warm and partly cloudy. After sunset, threat of rain or sleet and very cold. In the local area, not unheard of to experience hail or wind driven sleet with changeable conditions. Although lacking variety, the German beer and food was good. All enjoying live music.

Later, as the evening progressed, the event underwent a remarkable transformation, evolving into a vibrant and electrifying night-time techno rave party. The sudden shift in atmosphere took me by surprise, injecting a new energy and excitement into the gathering. The pulsating beats of the music reverberated through the venue, creating a mesmerizing ambiance that captivated the attendees. The once subdued setting was now illuminated by colorful lights and pulsing with an infectious rhythm that beckoned everyone to join in the celebration. The unexpected turn of events added a sense of spontaneity and thrill to the experience, leaving a lasting impression on all those in attendance. I was not expecting this.

A rave party attendee standing beside me said 'Good to see you here mate.' Thinking I don't know you, I replied what's that mean? Oh for the rave party. I looked at the time on my phone 8.45pm. A comment I wouldn't expect before midnight. Myself amused. Obviously looking out of place here amongst a younger demographic. I managed to stay to the 10pm finish. Amused by the crowd antics.
