PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK CAR SHOW

The Macedon Ranges & District Motor Club presents the annual Picnic at Hanging Rock Classic Car Show. The largest car show in Victoria and perhaps Australia. A one day event.
The 37th event held on February 11th 2024 at the picturesque Hanging Rock Reserve.
Time 8am to 3.30pm.
Tickets $25 per motor car.
GETTING TO THE HANGING ROCK CAR SHOW
Hanging Rock is about eighty km from Melbourne CBD. On the outskirts of Woodend.
On the day, and four km from the Reserve bumper to bumper traffic was encounted around 9am. Traffic built up all the way into the reserve parking area. Sixty minutes to drive the remaining four km. Some arriving a little later took ninety minutes.
People were sitting in cars and waiting in the four km line of traffic to enter the Hanging Rock carpark. A man walked along holding a steady cam mounted camera recording video. He explained this was for publishing to Youtube.
At least one vehicle pulled out of the queue. Unable to cope with the rising idling temperature. A common problem of overheating in much older cars.
Reserve parking was on flat short grassed paddock grounds. Views of the elevated Hanging Rock are clearly seen from the parking area next to the racecourse located at the foot of Hanging Rock. Many car show entrants were inside the inner fencing of the track and flowing past the Hanging Rock Café and much further along and down the reserve. Covering quite a large area. Thousands of cars on display.
